Dances with Flutes

October 1 2023 @ 4:00 pm6:00 pm

It’s Flute Street’s Tenth Anniversary Season and on October 1st at 4pm, the music is all about the dance. A Piazzola tango, a renaissance basse dance, some ballet music from Petrushka and the Canadian premiere of the sensational and original Juba Dance by Valerie Coleman of the Imani Winds are all part of the lively celebration. Be there to hear this and more performed by Toronto’s unique, upbeat twelve-member chamber orchestra comprised exclusively of flutes ranging in eight different sizes from the tiny piccolo through to the deep-voiced double contrabass flute — the only instrument of its kind in Canada. Conveniently located next to the Sherbourne subway at the lovely Church of St Peter and St Simon-the-Apostle (525 Bloor Street E), this Pay-What-You-Can concert is not to be missed!
