On October 27, Flute Street embraces the darkness with a program aptly entitled Beyond the Night Sky. In addition to the Canadian premiere of this work by Peter Senchuk, there will be musical visits to a haunted French castle, a weeping Mexican witch and Mussorgsky’s terrifying Bald Mountain. Yet all cannot fully succumb to the dark side as Flute Street winds through the florid Paths of Deeper Gold by Alexandra Molnar-Suhajda. From the darkest depths of the contrabass and double contrabass flutes to the brilliance of G treble and piccolo flutes, Toronto’s professional flute ensemble offers a full, seven-octave sonic experience uniquely employing the captivating colours of NINE different sizes of the modern flute. Come, listen, and celebrate the shades of the October night.
